folding in time + place

  • This studio explores the notion of "folding in time", popularized by the work of Peter Eisenman, with the addition of “place” which holds the project responsible for identifying with Cleveland's specific urban fabric. The act of folding a building disrupts traditional notions of spatial continuity, generating dynamic and fragmented forms that challenge our perception of space while also alluding to the layering of meaning, experience, and memory. By embracing the concept of folding in time and place, the students created designs that resonate with the complexities of the human experience through the continuum of past, present, and future.
